Horner & Shifrin Bolsters Staff Across Missouri and Illinois
Horner & Shifrin is excited to announce the addition of ten new employee-owners. Our new EO’s expand our Building Services MEP & Structural, Civil/Site, Transportation, and Water organizations. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the H&S team. Get to know the new employee-owners below:
Matt Auld, PE: Matt Auld has 15 years of experience leading the planning and design of civil engineering projects that include site design, waterlines, storm sewer systems, sanitary relief sewers, sanitary sewer evaluation studies, GIS, and hydraulic computations. He has experience with flow meter installation, maintenance and data analysis; smoke and dyed-water testing, and report generation. Matt is based at the H&S O’Fallon, Missouri office.
Chad Brenton, PE: Chad Brenton is a civil engineer with more than five years of experience in civil and structural engineering. His experience includes spanning structural steel analysis, reinforced concrete design, grading design, preparation of construction documents, quality review of projects deliverables, and risk analysis/management. Chad is based in our St. Louis headquarters.
Mark Buwen, PE: Mark Buwen is a project manager and designer with more than 27-years of experience in Phase I and Phase II Federal-aid project delivery. His experience includes nearly 10-years at IDOT District One, during which he spent several years as a Federal Aid Location Engineer in the Bureau of Local Roads and Streets – a role that specifically managed Federal-aid Surface Transportation Program (STP) projects sponsored by Local Public Agencies (LPA). His experience includes bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects, intersection improvements, multi-use paths and complete streets improvements, add-lane reconstruction, and new construction projects. Mark is located in H&S’s Chicago, Illinois office.
Matthew Hartman, PE: Matthew Hartman is a civil engineer with more than five years of experience in transportation engineering, working in our St. Louis office. His experience includes coordination of major and minor municipal projects for the City of St. Louis, coordination with state and local agencies, such as MoDOT and Saint Louis Development Corporation, and maintaining relationships with various utility companies. He also has firsthand field experience for numerous types of construction work including roadways, bridges, sewers, waterlines, as well as building work such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical engineering. Matthew has worked with the application of ADA standards, concrete field testing, MoDOT LPA manual, and technical report writing.
Donovan Herpel: Donovan Herpel is a transportation engineer and recent graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. His experience includes survey for commercial, residential, and public works projects. Donovan has also assisted in the design of roadway projects in Madison County, Illinois and is based at our O’Fallon, Illinois office.
Adam Karr: Adam Karr is a programmer/analyst working out of Horner & Shifrin’s St. Louis office. Adam is a 2018 graduate from LaunchCode where he focused on application programming and network administration.
Reneé La Bruyere: Reneé La Bruyere is Business Development Manager with over 20 years of business development experience. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lindenwood University. Prior to joining H&S, Reneé held Business Development roles at several A/E firms in the St. Louis area. Reneé serves on multiple boards, including the International Facility Management Association and the Society of American Military Engineers. She is a civic leader in her community and is a multi-year recipient of the O’Fallon-Shiloh Ambassador of the Year award. Reneé is working out of our St. Louis office.
Dave Lauver, PE: Dave Lauver has 17 years of engineering experience including heating, ventilating, air conditioning, chilled and hot water distribution, systems controls, piping, and fire protection systems. He has provided mechanical engineering design on varying building types from educational and healthcare facilities, to laboratories and office buildings. Dave is located at the St. Louis headquarters.
Rachel Schneider, EI: Rachel Schneider is an environmental engineer with four years of experience in the field of water quality and wastewater treatment. Rachel is based at H&S’s St. Louis office. Her previous experience includes regulatory compliance inspections for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources St. Louis Regional Office. As an inspector, Rachel led inspections and audits of wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, and pretreatment programs in St. Louis and the surrounding area, including MSD’s Facilities. Rachel also has experience in review and approval of facility plan, engineering report, Antidegradation, and construction permit submittals in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources central office.
Barry Timms: Barry Timms is a plumbing designer with 30 years of experience. Barry’s design experience includes mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems. In addition, he has 7 years design, estimating, detailing and BIM management experience in a large mechanical/plumbing contractor. Barry is located at our St. Louis office.
