Overview
Horner & Shifrin provided engineering design services for the new two-story complex which includes the municipal, fire safety and police departments. The municipal building contains council chambers; the mayor and aldermanic offices; training and meeting rooms. The new two-story firehouse has three drive-through bays, dorm rooms, day rooms, kitchen, training and workout rooms. Designed to be energy efficient, H&S followed the 2009 international energy code and exceeded ASHREA 90.1-2007 energy requirements. The city hall building contains the city wide IT room for Fire, Police and City Hall. The room is served with a separate computer room mechanical unit, emergency power, and a double interlock fire suppression system. The new buildings establish an updated perception and were designed to support the growing community.
