Overview
The Cape Girardeau County Reorganized Common Sewer District was established in an effort to consolidate wastewater service for more than 1200 customers. As part of the reincorporation, 15 small treatment plants were closed in favor of a centralized wastewater treatment facility. Financed by USDA Rural Development funding, it was the largest sewer project of its kind in Missouri at the time of construction. A total of 16 new lift stations made this type of reorganization possible.
