Overview
Horner & Shifrin designed the improvements to Prairie Dell Road from Audrey Lane to the south of Route 50 near the entrance to East Central College. The college entrance was converted to a roundabout and the existing 2-lane road was reconstructed and widened to three lanes to improve safety for left-turns into the commercial properties and to provide a landscaped median. A trail was constructed along the east side of the roadway, in accordance with ADA accessibility requirements as defined in the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG). Street lighting was designed along Prairie Dell Road. H&S was also responsible for administration, inspection, and oversight of all construction activities.
